Missing My Documents/Music/Pictures icons

If you move your Documents/Music/Pictures or you play with their desktop.ini file then you might end up having “normal” folder icons instead of their special ones. The thing is that usually if you miss those, probably there is some other information not running ok.

In order to fix this, simply open a command prompt and run the following:

rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit

My videos/pictures/music folders does not have their special folder or a normal folder but an icon similar to what windows uses when it doesn’t know what application to use.

Any ideas????

Did you try running that in the command prompt?

Thanks a lot man, that helped loads :D

hey andrei,
i did run that line in my command prompt, nutthin’s happened.
i should let u know that my cousin had DELETED (irretrievably) all the desktop.ini files on my computer cos he sed “there were too many cos of some virus”
any suggestions? please do mail me if u have any. i’ll really appreciate it.

shreyas, did you reboot afterwards?

i remember also something about windows not refreshing the icons.. you could try F5 in a window opened for the parent folder of Documents, Pictures (Documents and Settings\”Username” ;)

* I don’t if this is the case, but I didn’t test this on Vista

Thanks that fixed it! Fixed it so quick and easy I didn’t think it had done anything at first!
