Other than the interface (meaning buddy list and some new skin support), which is a copy of Pidgin with its compact and detailed view, I really don’t see any change minor changes to how you “interact” to a buddy from the list and conversation window “corrections” (Learn from here what’s new cuz it sure ain’t obvious).

Maybe they re-wrote the code from scratch? Thank goodness - we all know how crappy that was.

[LATER EDIT] Don’t you just love the BEEP you get when you click on the buddy list. Hey! It even beeps on right-click! Yahhhoooooo!!

That beep pisses me off! Did you manage to get rid of it? so far the only way for me is to mute the “system beep” in the sound settings for windows.

Changing the interaction and the interface does count as new, by the way. Features are always enough. Good interaction is what’s missing most often..
The simple fact that my status is remembered is a huge interaction improvement, from my point of view, even if it was obvious and it should have been done ages ago…

@Adrian - I didn’t even try. I’m not using it. I’m in love with Pidgin, though it has its downfalls. If you use Vista, then in the sound mixer, you can mute only the Yahoo Messenger! ;)

@Sebi - You know.. I’m not treating “It’s been a month since I’ve seen the last BSOD” as a “huge improvement. That is a FIX, and fixes should be often, not every year or more. If Yahoo doesn’t get the point that it’s services need to be fixed as soon as possible, it will loose in the long-run.

I’m defending it now because now at least they’re trying. And I imagine it was quite an effort. And it was the first time after years and years when I actually saw some improvements.
I didn’t say it’s perfect, by the way :)

PS De Pidgin n-am auzit pana recent. As fi trecut eu la GTalk, dar toti prietenii sunt pe YM. Si de-acuma daca tot incep sa se miste astia..poate e bine asa, mai stii? ;)
